Taking a relaxing shower or lounging in the bathtub after a long tiring day at work is probably something everyone is looking forward to. Nothing beats the feeling of the water rejuvenating your stressed-out body and muscles. That is why keeping your bathtub and shower in optimal condition is important.

However, keeping your shower and tub in pristine condition requires time, energy, and effort. Not to mention the need to practice the right ways to ensure they keep looking brand new and their luster.

Therefore, here are some efficient tips to keep your bathtub and shower in excellent condition:

1. Seal Your Tiles

Construction materials like cement, wood, metal, and many others, lose their quality and condition over time as they get exposed to water and other liquids. The same thing goes for your bathroom materials, like ceramic tiles. Although these are water-resistant, the grout between them could wear and tear after a while.

Mildew and other damage can occur when the grout is exposed to water for prolonged periods. It is why you need to seal your tiles. It's important to always use penetrating sealers that can withstand moisture longer than average ones. In addition, regular use can cause damage and deterioration, so cleaning may not be enough.

Inspections outside the bathtub or shower can help prevent water damage. It's best to conduct tile sealing maintenance at least once a year to ensure the quality of tiles and prevent mildew and bacterial growth. It's also important to check all the tiles and make repairs as necessary. The wall cavity will be protected from water infiltration behind finishes.

2. Use Gentle Cleanser

Spritzing your bathtub with a gentle cleanser every week will also help avoid more cleaning in the long run. You can find bathtub cleaners in the market that are easy and convenient to use. Once you’ve purchased one, it is best to leave them to soak stains and debris on shower and tub surfaces. Since these mild cleansers come with safe formulations and ingredients, you can use them frequently.

The key is to find a brand that produces satisfactory results. But if you want to save money on cleansers, you can make an alternative organic solution. Natural cleansers can be made by combining water and white vinegar. You can transfer this liquid solution to a spray bottle and use it to clean your tubs and shower.

To get a deeper clean, allow the vinegar to sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off. These effectively treat scales, mildew, soap accumulations, and other issues. These ingredients are found in your kitchen, so you don't have to spend any money at all.

3. Scrub Surfaces

Another trick to maintain your shower and bathtub's condition is to use a scrubber or sponge. It is essential for deep cleaning. Using this cleaning device, you'll reach the hidden areas that may otherwise be difficult to penetrate through your sprayer cleanser.

It is best to use a scrub as you apply the bathtub cleaners. Try to keep the faucet or showerhead running for a while to soften the soap buildup and mildews. You can do this maintenance step at least once a month. You'll need a little elbow grease if you want to scrub your bathtub thoroughly.

Use a scrubber or sponge that is solid enough to remove imperfections but soft enough not to create markings or scratches on your shower and bathtub surfaces. With scrubbing, you will be left with a clean, sparkling tub completely free of mold, mildew, scum, and mineral deposits.

4. Install An Exhaust Fan

Installing fixtures makes your bathroom more personalized. Unfortunately, homeowners take extractor fans off the list of essential bathroom fixtures, as they often overlook the importance of keeping their bathroom free of moisture. It is essential, especially if your bathroom doesn't have windows.

Excess moisture in the air can lead to mold growth. Therefore, to ensure the best condition of your shower and bathtub, your bathroom needs a proper flow of air. It can be achieved by installing an exhaust fan. It doesn’t only improve your ventilation, but it can also improve the condition of your shower and bathtub.

It is possible to maintain the best quality of your bathtub and shower by following the abovementioned steps. A little effort can go a long way, and you and your family can enjoy using a well-maintained bathroom. Remember to conduct regular sealing, cleaning, and scrubbing, and install an exhaust fan. These simple steps can produce great results.
