UMBRAL: "First and foremost step or entrance to anything. "RAE
Taller Estilo Arquitectura: Casa Umbral is the invitation to leave the chaotic world behind, it is an architectural proposal that invites you to go through the door and move to a world of sensory experiences, through the tour of its spaces. On a lot of 7.50 wide by 41.50 long is located a single-family house of basic program, developed on 2 levels.
Two predominant volumes house: Social area (living room, dining room, kitchen) and services at the front and private area at the back, with two bedrooms, walk-in closets and bathrooms. These volumes are joined by a contemporary portico that leads the tour and organizes the spaces.
From the first threshold we cross, the house takes us by the hand to leave the world behind, the first courtyard welcomes us with the slight sound of water making us feel that we have arrived at an oasis of peace and like the ancient fortresses we cross a body of water that leads us into the interior and offers us security and a peaceful life, the next door in the tour, is transparent, revealing that through this second magical threshold we have arrived home.
The double height spaces house social areas creating the sensation of a large scale where activities can be developed with freedom and amplitude, while the private and service spaces are of a single height creating a sense of comfort in the first case and functionality in the second. In the access walls and those that create the interior façade, concrete walls with apparent formwork were used to conceptually create a barrier between interior and exterior, a home protected by walls of great strength protecting the interior paradise.
The iterior walls and ceilings have a textured coating that allows the spaces to feel natural and alive, as it reflects the passage of time with the light that creates different dimensions throughout the day, all this in conjunction with the architectural elements (columns, lintels, pergolas, etc.). Casa Umbral offers a contemporary architectural experience strongly rooted in the Yucatan context where the importance of light and outdoor spaces are part of our daily lives.
