Casa FR is a contemporary residence conceived by RGM Arquitetura, a Brazilian office led by architect Ruan da Motta. Specialized in Brazilian contemporary architecture, the practice develops projects that translate cultural identity, innovation, and a profound connection with the environment into built form. Each work seeks to respond to context not only through functionality, but also as an aesthetic and experiential statement.
Casa FR embodies this vision on the northern coast of Rio Grande do Sul, where the meeting between architecture and landscape becomes central to its conception. The project emerges as an exploration of fluid boundaries, where the built space opens itself to nature and the act of inhabiting extends beyond the physical walls. Volumes are composed through clean lines and expressive diagonals, generating a sense of dynamism, lightness, and movement.
Materiality reinforces this dialogue: stone, concrete, glass, and wood are combined to create contrasts between solidity and transparency, weight and lightness, intimacy and openness. Inside, double-height spaces and generous glazed surfaces capture natural light and frame the surrounding landscape, ensuring a continuous exchange between interior and exterior.
At the rear facade, the pool and terrace dissolve architectural limits and transform the house into a place of encounter with open space. More than a residence, Casa FR is conceived as a contemporary refuge, where architecture is not an isolated object, but an integral part of the territory — an expression of Brazilian contemporary living, deeply rooted in its coastal setting.
