M.Pourtahmasbi: House on the cliff, closer to the clouds

Perhaps our idea of the main structure of a house is that its outer walls should not have any damage or stains but if this house is located in a rough nature, we may be able to dispel this notion.

Do you think it is possible to build a forest house in a desert? Yes it is possible but this house will not be compatible with the desert environment. Of course, this is my impression. Others may have different opinions.

I got myself into a challenge. I had to design a volume combination that was compatible with the rough nature and the exterior of the building should be in line with the environment.

I acted very simply. Since we had a good view of nature in four directions of geography, we tried to consider this factor. I simply utilized four boxes.

To match the volume of the building with the harsh nature, I tried to create fractures in the outer shell of the building. I also combined the building with the cliff by using vertical plates that also act as columns So that the building seems to have grown from inside the rock, Therefore, the material of the vertical plates had to fit the rock. For this reason, I used exposed concrete on its facade. Wood is one of the popular materials in environments that have a lush nature. I simply used it. The combination of concrete, wood and metal materials is a common combination in architecture which are well compatible with each other.

In order to emphasize the connection of the building with the rock, I also used other elements. I used metal columns diagonally and other thin metal elements vertically and in order to achieve more harmony with nature, we released the iron shell of the columns to rust near the open air. Because of the heavy snowfall in the nature in winter, we used white galvanized sheets in other parts and exterior shells of the building, because white is compatible with both winter and snowy nature, as well as spring nature and the black color of the rocks.

Galvanized sheets also have scratches. In winter, the white color of the snow that falls on the rocks and the black color of the rocks create a beautiful combination, In order to harmonize with this view that is created in winter, we used scratched white galvanized sheets. Beautiful nature, you deserve more love and respect.
